Build Your Website With Confidence
It is the American Dream to want to start a business of your own. Whether it is when we are 10 years old selling lemonade in front of your house or a young mom or dad wanting to provide the family with some extra income selling cosmetics or the latest health product. Having a small home based business or eventually that "brick and mortar" business there are a few basic things we need to get "the word out" and help people to find what we are trying to sell.
Although there are many ways to do this, such as mailings, passing out fliers, radio and even TV, it is vital to have a website to give your potential customers a way to know everything you have to offer. So now that we know that, you will need to get all of your thoughts, ideas and all that you can think of down on paper so that you will have a clearer vision of what those ideas should look like when building your own website. You will want to take into consideration that your idea of a great website may differ drastically from what a website designed to make sales should be like.
Here are the "Basic Five Traits" of a great home or "brick and mortar" business website.
1. Build a Professional Looking Site.
Make sure your website is as professional in appearance as your competition. You will be judged on the appearance of your site so make sure you don't lose visitors because of a bad design. It doesn't have to have all the widgets and gadgets or an expensive flashy look, but it should have a clean and informative look.
2. All the Information They May Need.
If a visitor to your website has to put any effort into finding the information they need, you will lose them fast. Everything should be easily available to them with clear directions on how to get it. Make all important information no more than two clicks away.
It is said that we have only 3-6 seconds to capture our audience, so it is imperative that the look be simple and clean and the navigation be easily seen and have an almost "at a glance" and take it all in with one full look. People have a comfort level and remember that you won't please all of the people all of the time, but your job is to please most of the people most of the time to keep your numbers high when attracting and keeping people on your site and coming back.
3. Opt-In Form.
Having a form for people to opt-in to a newsletter is a great way to build a list of customers. It is also a great way to build trust and a strong following. Pack it full of great information, resources, freebies, and more. You will bring them back for more, plus they just might tell all of their friends about you.
I know we are not talking about marketing your business in this article, but it is well worth mentioning here. IT COSTS about six times more to capture the interest of a new client than it does to keep one that you have already captured! So once you have gotten them to your site or through your door, it is imperative that you keep them coming back for more.
GET THEIR EMAIL! Nowadays people are scared about giving out their address and phone numbers. People are more comfortable with giving you their email because they can just "click" should they not want to receive your newsletters anymore. It is safe and easy for them giving your an email address.
4. Sell, Sell, Sell.
To utilize your website to its best advantage, think about installing a shopping cart. Even if you are a brick and mortar business, say a salon or spa, then you have products that you could easily offer for sale on your website. Make it easy for clients to purchase without leaving the comfort of their homes. Make sure clients that come into your store know about your website and all it has to offer.
5. Feedback.
People like to be able to leave a comment if they see fit. Because you give them a way to communicate their likes and dislikes, you are creating a relationship and show that you care about what they think and are willing to listen. You will benefit by knowing what your customers want or need. Make sure your website has a "Contact Us" page or you might want to think about adding a Forum for more open discussion between you and your clients.
A little hint...people don't like to be sold, they like to buy! When people are looking to buy, they want to buy from someone they like, trust and have a good feeling about. So in your business and within your website, give them a feel about with whom they are dealing with. Build their confidence in you.
OK, one more thing! BONUS INFORMATION...I could not end without letting you know this and let this sink in. INFORMATION SELLS. Let me say that again, INFORMATION SELLS. Build your credibility in your mailings and newsletters (Remember, the emails you asked for from your clients and from your "Opt-In" on your website?).
Give your clients knowledge, teach them and inform them. Gain their trust and their business. Be available and in front of your clients 24/7.

Have you been told that there is lots of money to be made with blogs? Well, you are correct, there is a lot of money to be made if you do it right. Creating blogs is really easy now. Most hosting providers have an automatic install process to get your blog created in minutes. It is this simplicity that allows you to make lots of money in a short period of time. You can create your blog, promote it, monetize it, and sell it. You can also keep the best performing blogs as a basis for your recurring income streams. Let's get to the details.
As I said before, setting up a blog is simple stuff. You can do it in minutes. Once your blog is setup, you will need to make it look nice. The default theme is really not setup to stand out, trust me. Go and search for free WordPress themes, and you will find a huge pool to choose from. Once you pick one or many themes, you upload them to your account and pick the one you want to use. OK, now that your blog looks appealing to your visitors, You Need some content. Many people get stuck on content. You don't need to think too hard about this. Simply visit the major article directories and find the most popular articles in your niche. You simply publish these great articles on your blog! Be sure to observe the rules here. Each article site has different rules.
You can use WordPress' scheduling feature to schedule the posting of the articles. I would post the first three right away and then post one every day or so for the next two months. This will keep your content fresh and the search engines happy.
Now that the blog is setup with a nice theme and content, just go out there and promote it. You can promote via PPC, article marketing, forum marketing, classifieds, etc. Once you have some links and traffic, you must evaluate your blog's progress. The killer ones are keepers. Go ahead and sell the rest to buy some more content and/or outsource the building of more blogs!
